Where Creativity Thrives & Confidence Soars

At Westminster, we believe art is a vehicle of the human spirit and an essential part of a vibrant, well-balanced education. For decades, the arts have been woven into the fabric of the Westminster experience, giving students meaningful opportunities for discovery, self-expression, confidence, and lifelong enrichment.

Through drawing, painting, sculpture, design, and a variety of creative experiences, students learn to observe closely, think independently, experiment with new ideas, and bring their imaginations to life. The visual arts encourage the kind of creative, outside-the-box thinking that complements traditional academic study and helps students approach challenges from new perspectives.

As students develop their artistic skills, they also develop the confidence to express their own ideas and appreciate the perspectives and creativity of others. They learn that the creative process involves curiosity, patience, experimentation, and perseverance—and that there is often more than one thoughtful solution to a problem.

At Westminster, art is more than a subject to be studied. It is a way of seeing, thinking, creating, and engaging with the world. By encouraging students to make art a part of their daily lives, we hope to cultivate not only capable young artists, but imaginative thinkers who carry creativity, confidence, and an appreciation for beauty with them throughout their lives.

Creativity begins in the art room, but its impact reaches everywhere.

Poster Contest

Each year, Westminster’s seventh- and eighth-grade students participate in a poster contest, creating original designs inspired by their class play. The winning posters are selected and proudly displayed throughout the school.
