Westminster School Admissions Checklist
Mid-Year Transfers
Westminster School has rolling admissions; we accept students throughout the school year when we have space in a particular grade. If you are interested in applying for a mid-year transfer, please contact us directly to discuss your individual situation. Below outlines our general admissions process.
2022-2023 Admissions Schedule
Applications for the 2022-2023 school year will be accepted starting November 1, 2021 and must be received by February 11, 2022 to be considered in the first round of admissions. Applications received after February 11, 2022 will be reviewed and notified on a rolling basis, depending on space availability in a particular grade.
Step 1 — Attend an Open House*: Interested parents should attend an Open House event to learn about our school history and programs. Dates for these events are listed on the Admissions page of our school’s website. Open Houses are led by our Admissions Director and Head of School, and include an information session and opportunity for conversation with a panel of current staff, students, parents, and board members.
Step 2 — Submit Application: Create an account with your email address in our portal here. Once you have entered your email address, you will receive a link and a code to begin the application process. Your information will be saved and you can access it at any time going forward using the same link or entering your email address and requesting a new code.
The application requires the following information:
- Non-Refundable application fee of $100.00
- Copies of recent academic records / current transcripts (previous 2 years, if available)
- A minimum of two confidential teacher recommendations. Our recommendation forms can be accessed through our online portal system. Parents email recommendation requests directly to the teacher who will complete and return the form directly to us.
- A recent admissions test score — Either on campus, SSAT, or ISEE (See “Step 3”)
- A student writing sample
- Copies of educational assessments and other relevant evaluations (when applicable)
Step 3 — Admissions Testing: Testing of prospective kindergarten – 2nd grade students takes place on campus, by appointment with the admissions office. The SSAT and ISEE are accepted for students applying to grades 3 – 7. Westminster School does not consider applicants for 8th grade.
Step 4 — Parent & Student Interviews*: A parent and child interview is required but can be done in one or two sessions. The interview process allows students and families to learn more about Westminster School, as questions, and determine whether our school is a good fit for their child.
Step 5 — Student Shadow Day*: If both the school and the family feel that Westminster might be a good fit, applicants are invited to participate in a shadow day, where they spend the day at Westminster School paired with a student ambassador in their same grade. Applicants are encouraged to take part in classes and actively participate in school activities. The shadow day gives applicants an opportunity to experience a day in the life of a Westminster student, and allows teachers to directly observe the applicant.
Step 6 — Notification: Once all application documents have been submitted, we review the application carefully to determine whether your child will be a good fit for Westminster School and would benefit from our program. We will inform you of our admission decision within two weeks. Once you return the enrollment contract with a $1,500 non-refundable deposit, your child will be officially enrolled for the desired school year. The deposit will be applied to your first tuition payment.
Step 7 — Enrollment: With your admissions notification, you will receive an enrollment contract and deposit form. Return this contract along with a $1,500 non-refundable deposit to officially enroll your child. The deposit will be applied to your tuition balance.
*These events may be modified due to current COVID-19 protocols. Please contact the admissions office for the most up-to-date information.
