Westminster School

We Are Proud of The Accomplishments of Our Students!

It is sometimes difficult to gauge the effectiveness of the Westminster program from “close range.” However, Westminster students participate in a number of activities and contests each year which provide a profile of their achievements in comparison with those of other students in the region and across the nation. Below is an overview of Westminster student achievement in recent years.

Johns Hopkins Recognition

The Johns Hopkins Center for Talented Youth (CTY) sponsors an academic talent search each year, based on student achievement on standardized tests. Qualifying students must score in the 95th percentile or above on either a math or verbal reasoning section of their most recent or next-most-recent test. The figures below represent the percentage of Westminster students in the grade who qualified for Johns Hopkins this year:

5th—59%
6th—53%
7th—61%
8th—78%

President's Education Award Winners

Fifty-seven percent of the 8th grade class of 2012 qualified for the President’s Education Award. This award, sponsored by the President of the United States, recognizes students who achieve standardized test scores on math or reading in the 85th percentile or higher AND maintain an average GPA of 90 or above in the 7th grade and the first semester of the 8th Grade.
