The Builders Club Induction took place on Wednesday evening with more than 120 students, parents, staff members, and guests in attendance. Mr. Miller welcomed the guests and members with reminders of the holiday ornament sales, school supply drive and the purpose of the Builders Club. The seventh and eighth grade students learned of their role in the Kiwanis Club family and how they can help fight hunger in Fairfax County. Colleen Ross, from Northern Virginia Family Services, praised the students and Westminster School for their leadership in helping others, especially through the Homeless Walk-A-Thon, Mr. Turkey Drive, and the holiday gift card program. The member induction ceremony took place with each newly elected officer lighting a candle and reciting one of the foundations of the Builders Club. Mr. Miller led the members in taking the Builders Club pledge to “commit to serving others in need “for the 2013-2014 school year.
In the highly anticipated annual tradition, Mr. Glover closed the program by announcing the upper-school plays for the 2013-2014 school year: The Winter’s Tale (7th grade) and My Fair Lady (8th grade).
The attendees enjoyed socializing and refreshments following the ceremony.
