The third grade presented "Cinderella and the Glass Slipper" on February 20, and the actors and audience alike enjoyed the humorous rendition of the classic fairy tale. The ridiculous stepmothers and stepsisters entertained with their vanity and silly spats. The royal court dazzled with their grace and poise, while the ladies and lords impressed with their refined airs. The magical fairy godmother and her unconventional apprentice, “fairy godfather,” got Cinderella to the ball in fashion, with her gown, glass slippers, coach, and all. But as the fairy godmother warned, just before midnight, the magic wore off. Cinderella and her trusty cat, mouse, and Pumpkin Head dashed away at the stroke of midnight. When all seemed lost, the Prince found Cinderella’s glass slipper. Determined to find his true princess, he scoured the kingdom, wading through many eager ladies , none of whom fit the glass slipper. To the dismay of her stepsister and stepmother (and even Mistress Haughty), Cinderella’s dainty foot slipped in perfectly. In celebration, the Queen threw a second ball, and the whole kingdom was invited. All’s well that ends well, and a beautiful spirit outshines vanity and selfishness! Bravo third graders!
