Camp Hours and Fees:

7:30 a.m. - 9:00 a.m.  Early Morning Care, $50.00 per week

9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.  Day Camp, tuition varies depending on session

3:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.  Extended Care, $100.00 per week

Camp Griffin Programs:

Explorers Program: Children ages 3 to 5 year-olds

Jr. Griffins: Children entering grades 1 – 3

Sr. Griffins: Children entering grades 4-8

Staff:

All programs are staffed by experienced, passionate, professional, creative and dedicated teachers from The Griffin Academy Preschool and Westminster School.  Counselors and Counselors-in-Training are current employees or are distinguished alumnus of Westminster School.  Camp Griffin is dedicated to providing superior quality summer programs for children ages 3 to 14 rich with excellence. Registration:

Early and Extended Care

Parents may opt to add Early or Extended Care services to the Day Camp. Early Care is an additional $50.00 per week. Extended Care is an additional $100.00 per week. Children will enjoy games, books, arts and crafts, cooking, technology, and have opportunities for yoga, free play, outdoor play, and additional activities during Early and Extended Care. Children enrolled in Extended Care will also delight in a nutritious peanut free afternoon snack provided by Camp Griffin. A calendar of snacks will be provided to parents with children enrolled in Extended Care.  In regards to allergies, Camp Griffin makes every effort to accommodate children with allergies.

General Day Camp Registration

Registration will only be accepted using the ActiveCamps network, and is available now at www.westminsterschool.com; click on the “Camps” tab. A non-refundable enrollment deposit of $200.00 is due at the time of registration. The enrollment deposit will be deducted from the total amount due. 

Programs fill up very quickly, space is limited, sign up today.  Registration will NOT be available after June 1, 2014 or on site.

All programs must be paid in full by June 1, 2014. Due to scheduling and staffing needs, there will be no refunds issued after May 1, 2014. Prior to June 1, 2014 refunds will be issued minus the $200.00 enrollment deposit. After June 1, 2014, any paid tuition will be retained by Camp Griffin at Westminster School.  If full payment is not received by June 1, 2014, your child will be withdrawn from Camp Griffin and the next child on the waitlist will be added.  If you must make any changes to your registration, please log onto your ActiveCamps account.  If you need further assistance, please contact Camp Director, Miss LaRose at 703-340-7268 or by e-mail at [email protected]

Camp fees will NOT be prorated based on attendance, illness, or other factors. Refunds will not be issued after May 1, 2014.

Required Documents:

All children must submit the following required documents through the ActiveCamps network, in addition to a complete online registration by June 1, 2014 or your child will be withdrawn from Camp Griffin:

·       Insect and Sunscreen Form

·       Medication Authorization Form

·       Inhaler Form

If your child was NOT enrolled at The Griffin Academy Preschool or Westminster School during the 2013-2014 school year:

·       Commonwealth of Virginia Physical Form

·       Proof of Identity (Must be shown to the Camp Director on the FIRST day of camp attendance.)

Lunch/Snack:

Children enrolled in the day camp must bring a disposable packed lunch (nut free preferred) and non-carbonated drink clearly labeled with the child’s name. No fast food or deliveries will be accepted for lunch.  In addition, the use of microwaves or refrigeration is not available. In regards to allergies, Camp Griffin makes every effort to accommodate children with allergies.

Children enrolled in Extended Care will also delight in a peanut free nutritious afternoon snack provided by Camp Griffin. A calendar of snacks will be provided to parents with children enrolled in Extended Care.  Students with documented allergies will be served an alternate snack.  Otherwise, snacks will be served according to the Extended Care calendar.

Griffins on the Move Travel Camps: Children will be transported on a climate controlled Westminster School bus

*If enrolled in Early and/or Extended Care, all children must be signed in and out daily by parent/authorized person in the Early Care/Extended Care Log Book located in the gym/multi-purpose room.

What to bring to Camp Griffin EACH day?

All children: Backpack, labeled bagged lunch (peanut free preferred) with non-carbonated drink, labeled water bottle, labeled sunscreen, and labeled insect repellant

3 year-olds to age 6: Extra clothing, snack (peanut free preferred), rest/quiet time comforts (all items will be sent home on Friday)

Dress Code:

All children are expected to wear clean and serviceable clothes appropriate for an active day.  For example, camp t-shirt or camp polo shirt, shorts/skirt/pants and clean tennis shoes.  Children may wear clothes of their choosing with the following exceptions:

  1. No spaghetti straps or cropped tops (shirts showing the navel or midriff);
  2. No offensive or inappropriate advertising, characters, or graphics on clothing articles;
  3. No ripped clothing or cut-offs;
  4. The hemline of shorts or skirts should meet fingertip length when arms are relaxed at the sides.

Children may wear shoes of their choosing.  Shoes should be comfortable, fit properly, and support the feet.  In the interest of safety, flip-flops, sandals or shoes without a heel strap will not be allowed.

Children should wear the proper outerwear depending on the temperature.  Every effort will be made, on a daily basis, to have the children outdoors. 

Camp t-shirts and polo shirts are required daily.  Children in grades 4-8 participating in the travel and specialty programs must wear a polo shirt, as indicated in the program descriptions.  Sports camps and the Explorers Program must wear a camp t-shirt. 

Polo shirts and t-shirts can be purchased through the ActiveCamps network and the Camp Griffin office.
