“It is essential to encourage young people to become the most helpful, most sincere, most thoughtful beings possible.”
Mrs. O'Drudy is Team Leader for the Seventh and Eighth Grades at Westminster. Her goal as a teacher is to instill in children the belief that they can always attempt a task, and that with each success comes a small triumph. Mrs. O’Drudy stresses to students the fact that language is not about printed shapes on paper. Language is about sounds that must be heard to be learned and understood. For her, the best reward in teaching is not in enjoying the achievements of the bright, capable student, but the accomplishment of the student who has struggled, and makes his or her way ultimately to success. Mrs. O’Drudy enjoys reading Irish poetry, particularly that of William Butler Yeats, as well as Irish and English novels and short stories.
